I love going to Etsy and finding things that you can not buy anywhere else. That was just the case when I stumbled upon PinkRoses1220's shop. I first noticed the adorable clothes for children and then realized the pattern for the Afternoon Tea Jacket was available in both adult and kid sizes!!! I got so excited that I bought it quickly. I will tell you that the pattern is the templates alone. The instructions are not available with the pattern. If you need any help I don't mind sharing the order of how to sew the pattern together. I also spoke to Lisa the Etsy store owner, whom is extremely nice, and she said that she was only selling a few patterns to the public. Her shop is having a huge sale so go check it out!! The jacket is not lined, so for this project a serger is a great machine to use. The fabric find was located at Material Girl Shoppe.
If you like this purse but you are not sure how to make it here are a few places to get some ideas. The first place is Creative Little Daisy where she shows you how to put the patchwork together. Autum is very talented and a great teacher. The original idea came from a Japanese craft book called Machine Made Patchworks. The second blog is Dresden Petal where Angie even provides a template to use. I love her cute pockets inside too!
It is amazing to me that such a small change can make such a big difference but it does!! I love the extra band of Amy Butler's, Geisha Fan fabric on the outer shell! It was so simple! Cut a 8" X 3.5" piece of fabric, ironed the 8" sides of the fabric .5" toward the wrong side and sewed it down to the outer shell. I used the same fabric I used on the flap and zipper pocket so it helps to tie everything together! "Try it, You might like it" (Yo Gabba Gabba:)!! OK, to much TV, back to sewing!
