Wrap Skirt from Chic and Simple Sewing

I made this wrap skirt from Chic and Simple Sewing written by Christine Haynes. I loved making it because the skirt itself is one piece with ties you sew on to it. So it is a great project for someone who is a beginner. Simply cut the skirt and ties, iron and sew! Christine Haynes wrote in her book that this skirt started it all. I can see why! It is simple to make and looks great on any body shape. Tomorrow you can enter to win a signed copy of Chic and Simple Sewing . It is filled with great projects, like this one, for any season! The book also comes with full size templates! See you tomorrow!

Chic and Simple Sewing Interview with Christine Haynes

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Stuart Mullenberg photo Today, Christine Haynes from Chic and Simple Sewing joins us to share more about herself, sewing tips and upcoming projects. Her amazing book Chic and Simple Sewing has become one of my favorite sewing books. March 25th we will be hosting a giveaway with the winner receiving an autographed copy of her book Chic and Simple Sewing . Sew Spoiled: How did you learn to sew? Christine: I was lucky that my mom was crafty and taught me to sew at a young age. I didn’t really do it on a serious level until after high school when I bought my first serger. That was amazing and I was officially bitten by the sewing bug! I’ve pretty much been sewing ever since! Sew Spoiled: What were your favorite projects as a beginner seamstress? Christine: When I first started sewing as a kid, I tried skirts. But honestly I hardly finished anything. In my late teens when I bought my serger, I went a bit crazy with dresses and skirts, and that’s pre

Silhouette Fabric Applique Tutorial

You can buy the Silhouette fabric interfacing (sewable or clean cut) or you can buy HeatnBond (Sew or ultra hold) . The price difference is $5.00 for the same amount of interfacing (17” X 36”). $7.99 VS. $2.47 ✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄ You can see what I chose . Step 1: Cut your fabric and interfacing the same size. Make sure it will fit your adhesive mat. It works best on the thicker mat. (This is the thin mat, I need to purchase a new thick media cutting mat. The green mat is the one you should use.) ✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄ Step 2: Iron the fabric to the interfacing and peel away the paper side. ✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄ Step 3: Place the fabric right side up on your adhesive mat. You want to use the thickest adhesive mat. ✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄ Step 4: Go to your computer, set up your applique design. Click send to Silhouette. ✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄✄ Step 5: Send the cu

Sew Spoiled iPad Folding Case is Compatible!

The iPad 2 is here and has been in Mac stores since Friday! I want to buy one but the lines for the iPad 2 are insane! I did get to look at this one on display. I just happened to have my leather Sew Spoiled iPad Folding Case with me (wink;) and tried it on. I was worried about the 33% smaller iPad 2 not fitting snuggly into this case however my worries are over. It does fit. I do plan to take a closer look at the iPad 2 and the Sew Spoiled Folding Case and make a few updates. The iPad 2 has magnets set inside, this allows for the iPad to fall asleep when the case is closed. I plan to see about using this technology in my updated design and making a few other modifications. Did anyone succeed at buying an iPad 2 this weekend? Tell us about your experience!
