Thirty One Skirt Pattern, by Sew Spoiled

If you love the Sew Spoiled Pocket Skirt and you want to make your own, Now you can! The PDF pattern is available in my Etsy shop . It is only for the outer shell, called a skirt.  Do you own a Thirty One, Skirt Purse? I love my Thirty One skirt purse but it lacks pockets. It only has 2 pockets inside and none outside. That is why Sew Spoiled created a new skirt cover for the skirt purse. Two slip pockets are located on either side. Outside pockets are useful for a phone, tissues or sunglasses. The pockets wrap around the both sides of the purse cover. Keeping the contents snug inside the pocket with elastic to gather the top of the pocket. Plus it uses very little fabric to make, only one half yard. Your friends will be asking you to make them one too.  I am still making these too, if you would like a handmade Thirty One Pocket Skirt I have them available in Pink/ Grey Blossom and soon in Chambray! I also embroider the center with a Curls font 3" letter of your choice f

Book Cover Up

One of my favorite things to do over the summer is read! I am always reading by the pool, beach or outside on the porch. It is relaxing and lets me unwind. I have tried many book cover tutorials and patterns however my favorite is Lilly Blossom's Book Cover with Beaded Bookmark.  It is available in her Etsy shop for only $6 and it is well worth it. It is also available for instant download. If you are like me you will have to convert all the measurements to inches.  Now all I need to do is get some fancy beads .

Cute as a Button Bookmark Tutorial

These are called Cute as a Button Bookmakers. They are cheap, easy to make and are wonderful gifts!  All you need is  Bookmarkers/ PaperClips Size 45 or 1 1/8" Button Covers and kit Glue Gun Pliers (which you won't need if you get the flat back buttons). Step 1: Make a few fabric covered buttons.  These are size 45 or 1 1/8" buttons. Step 2: If you use normal buttons you will need to take the loops off to make them flat. However you can buy flat back buttons and not have to worry about the loop. Step 3: Add a dab of hot glue to the top of the large paperclip pad and place your fabric button on top of the glue. Step 4: Let it cool and it's ready to use! Happy Crafting!

Give Your Library Bag Some Character

Start with a character from a children's book. My oldest enjoys Judy Moody, so we used one of her books to make the character design. Coloring books work well for tracing images because you need an image with one color. At the back of this activity book there was a picture of Judy Moody for kids to make their own t-shirts. After tracing the picture with Silhouette , we wrote "I heart books" and flipped the image. We were ready to cut it out.  Silhouette does all the work. Set your Silhouette to a slow speed (2-3) and thickness (3-4) for best results. We took off the excess vinyl and this is what we were left with... Iron the image down to the face of the bag. Make sure your iron has no water inside it and you are on the highest heat setting you have. Press directly on top of the plastic. I know the first time I did this I thought it was crazy and it went against every fiber of my being but you have to do it! We added a bow and button for fun. Don

Sneak Peak!

This summer I am determined to write more sewing patterns. I have already created a few different styles of bags. For instance I took the Thirty One skirt cover and shaped it into a bag of it's very own.  This is the skirt cover. Here is the plain Jane version with beaded  handles. I love the deep pockets. They are perfect for your cell phone, sunglasses, tissues, anything you need to get to quickly.  After the plain jane version I tried another style the pocket hobo ( I am not sure about it's name yet.) . I am trying a few sizes and I think I am going to make many of them available in my Etsy shop.  Here is another sneak peak at the pocket hobo style. There is so much to do. I like to start by drawing the templates and writing the instructions. Then I take a ton of pictures as I make the bag. Finally I put everything together to make the perfect sewing pattern. Flip Flop Fest!

It is super easy to dress up any Flip Flop with your own personal style. You can use ribbon, tulle, balloons, buttons, yarn, fabric or decorative flowers, just to name a few.    I decorated these red flip flops with blue ribbon for a 4th of July outfit. I found these flip flops last year at 5 Below. I loved that the straps are made from fabric not plastic. With fabric straps I was able to sew on the bows. Here is my Flip Flop Pinterest board. Simply click on the picture below and follow this board if you love Flip Flop ideas. If you would like to join it please feel welcomed to it. I couldn't possible post all of the great tutorials out there so I pinned them for you. This also allows the list to grow! Happy Flip Flop Fest!
