Bag #5: Ladybug Diaper Bag

Wow! I forgot how large the Sew Spoiled ladybug diaper bag is! It has so much room. You know it would make a great travel bag to take on a trip with your family. You could fill it with games, story books, puzzles, snacks and more! When I was little my stepmother would pack little trinkets for my sister and I to open each hour of the family trip! It was amazing how fast the trip went by. I looked forward to each hour, usually it was a book, game or fun snack. I have continued this tradition with my own kids! We are planning to take a Zoo trip soon! The Dollar Tree is the perfect store to stock up on traveling fun, I think I will start with animal crackers. Have an amazing day!

Bag #2 and 3: Ladybug Mommy and Me

I am so happy with this fabric! (smiles) My daughter wanted to keep this Ladybug backpack after modeling for me in the photo. She told me that she was “very mad” at me for taking it back and putting it away. I tried to make up with ice cream but she was not buying it. I will have to make her another one. By the way, these little backpacks are perfect for the Nintendo DS (XL). My oldest daughter keeps her DS inside her Ladybug backpack. I made it with fusible fleece to pad the device. Thank you for all of the kind comments! It has been a lot of work and it is so wonderful to read your comments.

Bag #1: Ladybug Mini Purse!

This is the first ladybug design I made. I was at the beach on vacation with my family. Yes, I even take my sewing machine with me on vacation. At the time, I just wanted a pouch for my flip cell phone and keys. I drew a few ideas out and then set to work. The original top zipper worked great with the flip phone but as I upgraded my phone I realized I need to make the zipper opening larger. So I moved the zipper to the side and the rest is history. The fabrics are a Dab of Jazz by Gail Fountain and Maywood Studios. I tried to make the lines on the fabrics to look as if they were one continuous piece. This Ladybug Mini Purse will be shipped off to Simplicity this week along with 4 other beautiful creations! More sneak peeks to come...

Working with Simplicity!

Simplicity contacted me in February to ask if they could use some of my Ladybug designs in the spring 2012 catalog. I read through the contract and said yes! The next stage was looking for fabric. It sounds so easy! I get buy fabric for 5 bags how hard can that be. Right! It was honestly the hardest part of the process. I searched high and low. When I saw these bright pink and green combo, I loved it (love pink and green) but there was not enough! So I kept looking. Finally, I found these prints in a local fabric store, Elegant Stitches ! I love Elegant Stitches! They carry all of the latest prints and there personnel are extremely helpful! It is called a Dab of Jazz by Gail Fountain and Maywood Studios. I love how bright and airy it looks and feels. These are all of the colors here in North Carolina in the spring. I hope Simplicity will like them as well! Can’t wait to share more!
