Questions About the Sew Spoiled Diaper Bag Epattern!

Hi All,
I have been receiving all kinds of great questions about the Sew Spoiled Diaper Bag Epattern. I wanted to share them with all of you.

Questions?

Where can I find the hardware??
I found a great shop on Etsy called 3D Pattern Paper. They have a wide selection of great purse hardware. The adjustable strap hardware you will need is 2– 1.5” Rings, 1-2” slider and 2-2” swivel hooks.

What kind of interfacing do you recommend?I recommend Pellon craft fuse 809.
Are the pictures clear, so I can see every step? In the Sew Spoiled Diaper Bag Epattern there are over 70 clear beautiful photos! This is so you can see what every step looks like from start to finish. Plus the extra advantage of using Sew Spoiled patterns is that if you have any questions at all you can always email me your question for a quick response.

I have not sewn a zipper pocket before, is this step hard? Again this step is very clear and once you add this skill to your bag of tricks you will want to make every purse with a zipper pocket. Your customers will love it too!! (If you sell them.)

I have not made elastic pockets before, is it hard? This step very clear in the instructions however if you want to practice first an easy elastic practice project is the elastic pocket diaper travel case found here at Sew Spoiled Free.

I use cloth diapers, is this a large bag, so they will fit? Yes! This is a large bag, the finish measurements are 14"H X 4" Wide X 20"L. The great part about this bag is that you can change the width measurement of the bag to fit your needs. The sides and bottom of the bag is one rectangle shape. If you want a wider bag you will make the rectangle wider (for the outer shell and lining) therefore giving you a wider bag.

This does not look like an average diaper bag, do you think it would make a good messenger bag?
Yes! Honestly, the bags I have made from this pattern I did give away to new Mommies! Both loved having something different and new! However, these do not have the traditional diaper bag look and that makes them unique! So make one and use it for your needs!
I hope these answers help! If you have any questions feel free to email your questions to leah.sewspoiled@gmail.com.

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later....

Veruca Salt Dress

Every year we perform a musical and one of the highlights for me as a theater mom and seamstress is I get to make costumes! I love sewing and when I can sew for a show or for a music reason it is awesome! This year was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and I was able to recreate Veruca's red dress. The first step is to find a sewing pattern that I can manipulate to look like what the character needs.  I wanted to make the dress out of Pont de Roma fabric so it moved with the actress. Then I remembered the  Marianne Dress by Christine Haynes , it is perfect because it also had a peter pan collar. The peter pan collar did have some issues. I did not want a t-shirt binding. Also, the back of the collar did not have a collar. I drafted a back collar piece and since the opening was not stretchy, I created a keyhole with a button and loop closure. I lengthened the sleeves and used the cuffs from the pattern for long sleeves. Next, we added the buttons! We al...
