Tailgate Teammate Tote from Juls

Juls from Washington State writes, "I made the small tote without duck canvas, partly to make use of my stash on hand, and partly because I like a bag with a little less structure. I love that it's just big enough to hold my planner and a few other mom-essentials. The method of attaching  the straps is genius! This took way less time to put together than I was expecting.  Looking forward to making a large one out of mesh for the beach!"
I love the US Navy patch!
Here is a great picture of how much you can fit into the small tote.
I think the beautiful blossoms and the camouflage is such a great contrast. This tote really pops!
That is not all! Juls sent in more pictures of her second medium size tote. This one is adorable!
She writes, "The medium size is perfect for me! Our College team is the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Since there is no licensed fabric for us, I had to get creative a little. I used my silhouette machine to cut the collegiate N and star, which is the Navy sports logo. I couldn't find any matching webbing in my area, so i embellished the plain white and like it very much. my favorite part is the lining. The gold anchors are actually metallic!! so fun :)
Once again, a great pattern to sew with helpful photos and clear directions. Any time I messed something up, it was purely operator error lol. The way the straps are done is just so clever. Lovely pattern, can't wait to make more for family!"
Tip from Juls: If you can't find webbing the color you want for your Tailgate Teammate Tote, embellish the webbing you have with ribbon, trim or rick rack!
The lining is perfect!
Thanks for being a fantastic tester and sharing so much with all of us.

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later. We used a 1.5
