I made these summer frocks by following this super cute tutorial from Freshly Picked. I let my two little ones go into the fabric store with me and pick out one yard each. Once I got home they both asked for me to make them dresses. One yard is not a lot to work with but I found this simple Summer Frock tutorial and in an hour we had two dresses! I added the lace to the bodice and below the hem line to dress it up. There are three reasons this tutorial sews so fast. The bodice is the same for the front and back, no elastic, buttons or zippers and the skirt is a rectangle piece gathered at the bodice. The bodice template is in her shop for $2.00. It is well worth it for sizes 2T-6T. If you are a novice and you have never sewn a dress for your daughter or grand-daughter before, this is my recommendation for your first handmade dress. You could even make this as little jumper for the fall by using corduroy, with a long sleeved shirt and tights underneath. Thank you Freshly Picked for such a wonderful design.
Happy Sewing,
