Closed: Simple Crocheting Review and Giveaway!

I love to crochet but I am one of "those people" who won't try something new until I have a project that I want to make so badly that it forces me to learn a new technique. That is one of the many reasons why I love this book, Simple CrochetingIt has so many projects I want to try! Simple Crocheting is a beautiful book written by Erika Knight.
Erika Knight has written countless books about crocheting/ knitting and has given inspiration around the globe. She has a new line of fibers now available in the US through a British company called Blue Water Fibers
\
Simple Crocheting is a complete guide to crocheting. Not only does it show you in great detail about each stitch but this book also has 20 projects inside for you to make.
The photography and graphics are so clear for each step. This book makes me want to learn even more about crocheting.
Here are some projects that I will be making soon….
Slipper Boots
Contemporary Clutch
Fingerless Mittens
Now for the best part, St. Martin's Press is giving away one copy of Simple Crocheting to one of our Sew Spoiled readers!

I was going to say we are the same when it comes to trying something new, but I do venture out simply to learn the craft. I decided to try knitting several years ago, but I didn't have a pattern and it seemed kind of hard. I put it away and never touched it again. Recently I decided I REALLY wanted to knit a baby blanket. I found a pattern for beginners and watched a couple videos on YouTube to learn how to cast on and do the knit stitch. I couldn't believe how easy it was.

Now tatting is something I'm intrigued by. I learned a couple years ago that my great grandmother, who was the jack of all crafts, could do it. My aunt told me she tried to learn, but my great grandmother went to fast. Is that a challenge I hear? Oh yeah, bring it on!

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later. We used a 1.5

How to Line an A-Line Skirt Tutorial

After you find an A-line skirt pattern , I am using  One Yard Wonders 101  template . Make a muslin of your skirt! It only takes a few minutes to make a muslin version. Just baste stitch the side seams and make adjustments for your hips. Once your template is right you can make all the skirts your heart desires, so it is important to get the perfect fit first. Now we are ready to cut the "good" fabric and sew! ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- Flip the skirt right side out and put it on!! You are done!! It is super easy and your new skirt will look store made.  Plus there is no hand stitching the lining to the main fabric.
