Noodlehead, Super Tote

My favorite sewing projects are always bags! One size fits all and each one is fun to create. At the end of the summer, I started searching for a teacher tote to take to school. I needed a tote to carry my grade book, notebook and calendar stuff. I found Noodlehead's Supertote , perfect for any teacher! I did not have enough fabric to make it when I looked through my stash, so I found all of my favorite scraps and started to piece them together. Most of them are out-of-print fabrics from Amy Butler collections. I also took a shortcut and used canvas webbing for my straps. Last but not less, the bottom of the tote was not sturdy enough so I added plastic to the base. The Super Tote design is the perfect size for a teacher tote. I can store two 1.5" notebooks inside. There is also a slip pocket on the outside perfect for my badge and pens and an interior elastic slip pocket for post-its and other office supplies. I love that the top has a zipper closure, however, I have n...

Bag Fix

I bought this designer inspired foldable bag at Sew For Less . It is one of my favorite ready to wear bags. I bought it purely to monogram it in July of 2014. Here are a few others that would be fun to monogram.... Amazon.com: NNEE® Water Resistance Nylon Tote Bag & Multiple Pocket Design Amazon.com: Ecosusi Fashion Water Repellent Nylon Tote Shoulder Beach Bag Blue I wore it out!! See the bottom of the nylon bag, all four corners had holes. Once it made it to this state, I couldn't continue using it. Until today, I pulled it out and decided to fix it. Every December 31, just like most people I suspect, I go through my closets and clothes. Looking through everything, I make a choice to keep, throw way or give to Good Will. I did not want to throw it way, I couldn't giving it to Good Will since I had monogrammed it. So I decided to fix it! This is a very basic bag. It does not have a lining. I flipped it inside out and sewed across the two side corners. The grey ...

Arizona Caravan Tote and Pouch, Round Three Challenge

This is Round #3 of the Super Online Sewing Match. It has been wonderful receiving patterns, fabric and online resources to create our sewing projects with. I feel so lucky to be a contestant. Each week receiving a new challenge with new resources to make it with. This week's challenge was the Caravan Tote and Pouch Pattern by Anna Graham from Noodlehead. Anna has a new book and line of fabric out and I can't wait to get my hands on both!  The Caravan Tote and Pouch pattern by Noodlehead is a knitters dream. It has pockets everywhere for needles, yarn, stitch counters and placement markers.  I am a beginner , when it comes to the world of knitting, but I love and respect it. I feel that it has made me a better seamstress because knitting is making your own fabric!  When I received the challenge, I began to wonder what fabrics to use. It was hard to narrow it down. I went to Fat Quarter Shop , who sponsored this week's round, and instantly fell in love with ...

Introducing the Kenna Tote Available Soon

This is a new Sew Spoiled Kenna Tote ePattern available August 2013! I love the tall exterior pockets on either side of the tote, as well as the storage space inside for all of your things. The exterior is made from Duck Canvas and the interior is a fun flowery print I found at Joann's . In the pattern you will learn how to create a zipper pocket and a slip pocket. I was told by my niece, this size it perfect for school. At her school each student receives an iPad to study with, so she doesn't need a backpack. She needs just a tote for her iPad and writing supplies.  I am also working on making a few college themed totes. You can find canvas in any color so it would be easy to make team totes for local schools. Team fabric is fun to line the interior of the Kenna tote. This fall I am sure to sport an alumni Tote from East Carolina University, Go Pirates!
