Sew Over It Heather Dress #3

I made a plaid Heather Dress designed by the Sew Over It ! Making anything out of plaid is extremely hard. You have to make sure you are lining up all of the horizontal and vertical lines with the grain lines on the paper pattern pieces. I used a ruler on top of my paper pattern pieces to make sure that everything lined up. It took longer to true up the fabric than it took to make the actual dress but it was well worth it! In the end, I had to decide that the horizontal lines mattered more. I placed also paid close attention to where the notches where on the separate pattern pieces so when I sewed them together it would also align. If you don't want to deal will plaid craziness and you still would like to have plaid on your dress, you can use plaid fabric for the center front and back pieces of the pattern. I am not sure I recommend others to sew this dress pattern totally in plaid. Many have used a plaid or other design for the center panel and that works very well. ...

Bunny Bag

This is the Bunny Bag from The Makers' Journal Etsy Shop . It is a wonderful mini bag that looks like a corsage on your wrist. My sister is getting married in May and I think these will be perfect little gifts. She is planning the ceremony for the beach, what a cute accessory for the ladies in the wedding party.  This picture is just show off the size of this beauty. I can not wait for spring! This bag will look great with a cute skirt and flats.  The handle is just a little knot that sits on top. The sides of the bag are drawn in by elastic. There is no magnet clasps, zippers or buttons. Yay! These would make great teacher gifts in May! I am going to be making a ton of them. As if that is not enough, you can also buy it in a shoulder bag size ! Love it!

Miss Tippy Toes!

Miss Tippy Toes from Dolls and Daydreams Pattern company  is a  beautifully designed pattern that demonstrates how to construct a button arm joint so that the arms can move 180 degrees. I started this project back in December, after cutting everything out and embroidering the face ,  I stopped.  That is right; this is not a painted face. You can buy the embroidery face design from her shop too! This beautiful face is called the Kawaii Doll Face.   I enjoy making dolls but hand stitching the face can be challenging. Using my embroidery machine to stitch the face was fast and easy. I decided to embroider one piece of fabric and then go back and cut out the face using the template. That way I did not have to worry about the placement of the embroidery design.  However once I embroidered the face, I was unsure if the project would work. See the stitch count was a little dense and I was worried the doll would have a wrinkly face. So I stopped th...

Antrorse SweaterPattern by Shannon Cook

I love my new Antrorse Sweater . It feels soft and warm. It is also washable!!!! I think next time I wear it, I will wear my skinny jeans and boots. Each time I knit, I can see how much better I am getting because the fabric is more consistent. I have also learned how to fix mistakes. Mistakes are going to happen but if you know how to fix them, then you are better off. I still have a lot to learn but this sweater is so much better than the first time I knit this pattern. Knitting takes a lot longer for me to complete a project but I love that I can take my craftiness anywhere. I adore sewing but being able to do both knitting and sewing is wonderful. These buttons are all that I could find in my stash. I might have to look for different buttons. Yarn: Vanna's Choice, Lion's Brand, color charcoal grey. Needles: US 10.5 to get the right gauge. Buttons: Vintage metal buttons with eagles.
