Bettine Lucky Strikes Dress!

I just received Kimberly Kight, Lucky Strikes Dime Store, from Cotton and Steel in Navy from the Fabric Worm. Thank you Fabric Worm for this gorgeous fabric!! It is a beautiful navy cotton with little tan, coral and pink polka dots all over it. I made a Bettine Dress from Tilly and the Buttons. This was the first time I used a Tilly and Buttons pattern. I love how crystal clear all of the instructions are. If you are new to sewing this would be a great first dress to make. It does not have any zippers or difficult notions to install.

I am constantly looking for dresses I can make and wear to work. One requirement is pockets!!! I love the pockets on the Bettine Dress because they are so large and deep!! It is extremely comfy to wear and move around in. I love to look professional but I want to feel comfortable at the same time. This dress hits on all the requirements for a wonderful work dress.

I think I will be able to extend the wear of this Bettine Dress through fall. I plan to wear my boots, tights and even a cute cardigan. The only adjustment I made was to the tulip skirt, it was a little too wide. The bodice was perfect!

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work. Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped key fobs with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template PDF. Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template. Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later....
