I was asked to make a diaper bag for a friend and loved it so much that I didn't want to stop there. Why not make some cute accessories to go along with it. So that is when I looked up the fabric covered wipe case. Well I just wanted to share my Sew Spoiled twist on this adorable case.
First you need a fabric cover wipe case tutorial. I found a few that I really liked for free online. Here are three sites, Make It and Love It , According to Kelly and This and That. I am going to show you how you can add a pocket and make your wipe case a carry all for all of your changing needs. So gather together a fat quarter of fabric, interfacing, ribbon or trim, glue gun, mod podge, wipe case, 1/4" elastic and pocket fabric.
Cut the pocket fabric 12.5" WX 5"L and fold and iron.
The top is fold first at 1/4" and then again at 1/2" press and pin.
The bottom should be folded at 1/4" up and pressed into place. This is just a guid for later.
Sew the top close to the folded edge. This will create the casing needed for the elastic.
Thread the elastic through the casing using a safe pin.
Tack down the edges of the elastic so it stays in place.
Place the wipe case fabric over the case and make a straight line across the bottom.
This is a guide for the bottom of the pocket.
Line up the line on the case cover fabric to the pressed 1/4" line on the bottom of the pocket fabric right sides together. You will have to make a few pleats.
Whatever pleats you make on one side try to match it on the other side.
Sew across the bottom of the pocket using a 1/4" seam allowance.
Fold pocket up right and sew either side of the pocket to the case fabric.
The rest is history glue the case to the wipe case using Mod Podge.
Hot glue the edges and the trim.
Now we have a boutique glamorous case with high function!!!!
It is not just pretty but it works for you!!
I hope you give this a try!
Happy Sewing!
