Today, Larissa from MMMCrafts is joining us joins us to share more about herself, sewing tips and upcoming projects. Her wonderful blog, MMMCrafts is filled with beautiful pictures of her work. She has created PDF sewing patterns, free printable crafts and more! Please join me and welcome our new sponsor for the month of April! April 12-16 we will run our Sew Spoiled April giveaway! Sew Spoiled: What is your favorite sewing tip? Larissa: Oh, my word. I feel so silly for not knowing this trick before but Heather Bailey revolutionized hand sewing for me when I saw her easy knot demo. I can’t believe I spent all those years patiently trying to tie square knots with the end of the thread. Thank you, Heather! heatherbailey.typepad.com/photos/my_favorite_knot/index.html Sew Spoiled: When or how did you learn to sew? Who helped you to learn or did you teach yourself? Larissa: I taught myself mostly (see no. 1), so I am finding out all the time that I do things the hard way. My expert seamstress sister, Leigh Ann, has tried several times in the past to teach me things, so I have to give her some credit. I have Ah Ha moments a lot. If I run up against something I struggle with, I love that I can usually find a great tutorial or video online to help. Live and learn. My wonderful husband bought me a sewing machine about ten years ago and I've never looked back. That poor thing. I work it to death. Sew Spoiled: I love your printable designs too as well as your sewing patterns. Where do you find your inspiration? Oh, everywhere. I love color. I drink it in. I go into a trance in fabric stores or art supply places. Just ask my long-suffering children. I'm really drawn to the new vintage/mod style of illustrations that are bringing the look of old school illustrators back, like Charley Harper. Simple shape and line with bold color. I get a lot of inspiration from those things as well as just looking around at God's beautiful creation. Sew Spoiled: If you had to describe yourself as a crafter, what kind are you? (the perfectionist, Miser (thrifty), artist or the speed demon) ADD Perfectionist Obsessive Compulsive. I think that sums it up. Sew Spoiled: What up coming projects are you working on? (any collaborating blog projects, new patterns, free tutorials or printable crafts?) I'll keep you posted, because even I don't know what I'll be doing next. I fly by the seat of my pants quite a lot. April has been a pretty busy month as far as events goes. I participated in two fun multi-blogger collaborations and celebrated my third blogiversary. Easter is almost upon us and that usually means I'll be maniacally sewing my girls a couple of dresses at the last minute. Looking forward to THAT. :-) Thank you so much for your interview Larissa! I love your work! Happy Stitching! |
