My new Brother

My new machine , a photo by Sew Spoiled on Flickr. I love my new Brother PC420. It is so easy to use and the manual explains everything so clearly with pictures and diagrams. I have tried many of the stitches and I have not had any problems with any of them. However, there are so many I have only scratched the surface. The bottom two rows of buttons are the most commonly used stitches. If you click on the picture above it will take you to Flickr, I have labeled some of the others. I love all of the accessories and feet!!! It is an incredible buy! So far I am very happy with it. Make sure if you do purchase this machine that you buy the larger bobbins that the machine asks for. I am so happy! I have to go back to sewing on it, Bye! Sew Spoiled Kindle Case

Here is my Kindle 3 Case design. There are so many e-readers to choose from it was hard to start with just one. Kindle is probably the most common, so I decided to start there. This is a picture of the interior pocket and if you are wondering, “What’ s the pink thingy?”. It is a loop, so when you open the case and you want to hold the Kindle with one hand you can slip the flap through the interior loop to hold everything in place. A lot of case makers think it is a good idea to use fabric corners on all four corners but I have found that fabric corners really eat up your screen space. When I am reading I want to see the words, not the pretty fabric on the case. (And I love fabric!) By the way I will be posting this case and 2 more like in my shop . They are all adorable and I wish I could keep all of them one for every day of the week. This one reminds me of myself a little reserved at first but once you open it up a lot of fun. Please don’t forget the July Giveaway is still going o

iPad Folding Case with Accessories

Sometimes I like to go into my sewing room, sit down and try something different. I had a thought that when we take the iPad on trips we have to take the adapter with us but we seem to always forget it. Maybe if we had a pouch for the adapter, we would remember to pack everything... well....maybe This fabric is so cute! You have to look closely but you can see yellow, green and blue mushrooms and sweet little buttercups and daisy flowers. I love the Smurf blue fabric that matches the blue mushrooms in the print. This pouch could be used as a makeup pouch or coin purse. My oldest wants one for her Little Pet Shop toys. :) This matching set is available in my Etsy shop . I can make it for any 10” tablet with matching key fob and adapter pouch.

Brother 420 Sewing Machine

I looked at 3 stores yesterday, all different sewing machine dealers. (Singer, Pfaff, Brother and Baby Lock) After test driving many machines, I seem to gravitate to the Brother 420, Project Runway edition. At first I wanted a combo machine (sewing and embroidery machine), I thought that would be the only way to upgrade what I had. Boy was I wrong! This machine has over 294 stitches, design your own stitches with My Custom Stitch, knee lifter, automatic threader, cutter and 10 styles of buttonholes. Plus I can use the Brother feet I have collected over the years. The reviews on this machine are wonderful and the price is perfect! I can set up the Brother SE270D as my full time embroidery machine. I also have a Singer Serger so my table is getting a bit full but I have money in the budget to look at a new table for my sewing room. What do you think? Does anyone own a Brother 420? Let me know your thoughts! I have not purchased yet but I think this one might be the one.

Looking for a New Sew/ Embroidery Machine!!!

I am so excited! After talking to my husband about my sewing machine and the pros and cons. He suggested that I buy a new machine! These three are on of my top list. It has been a little hard to search online because the price is not listed for most machines. I have only gone to one shop dealer in town. What are you sewing on? Baby Lock, Brother, Janome, Husqvarna Viking, singer, etc. Do you enjoy your machine? What features would you want in a new machine to have? Baby Lock: Esante I love this machine but it is a little over the budget right now. Hoop Size: 5”X7” or 6.25”X 10.25” Max Stitches per minute: 800 Built in Stitches: 313 Embroidery designs: 158 Futura™ XL-400 | Singer Sewing I like the price and features of this machine. You use your computer to access the embroidery side of the machine. The Singer Quartet is also a machine I would like to look at. It is the same as the XL 400 but with all of the embroidery software. It is a HSN exclusive machine. Hoop Size: 4”X4” or 6”X 10”

Crazy Cherry Customized iPad Case

Angela, Flickr: rosasharn31's Photo stream , posted this amazing picture in the Flickr Group: Sew Spoiled . I instantly emailed her to find out how she customized her Sew Spoiled iPad Folding Case to match her iPad??? She found these cherry skins with matching wallpaper at Gela Skins . Gela Skins has a large variety of super cute skins for any digital device. Angela liked them so much she started to look for matching fabric. When Angela found this bright cherry fabric at Fashionable Fabrics it was a match made in heaven. I adore her case. I am shocked that the fabric matches up with the Gela skins of the iPad so well. How are you customizing your iPad Cases??? Send pictures to Flickr: your Sew Spoiled projects to share your great ideas. Thanks Angela for sharing your customized case with us! You Rock! Leah

Smart Pocket Progress?

I am hoping to hear from my testers soon. July is one of the busiest months and I have not received feedback from all of my testers. After I receive more information I will revise and post the pattern. Thank you to those who have emailed me and asked about this new pattern. Thank you for waiting patiently. Leah

Stitch Era Universal software

I recently came across this embroidery software. I just received it in the mail and I am installing and trying it out this summer. My hopes is that I will be able to use it to digitalize small simple embroidery designs. This is where I found the software, Free Stitch ERA Software and here is a site to help learn more about embroidery, EMBROIDERY ABC . Has anyone tried this software? It has been available since 2009. Happy Stitching! Leah

A Dress Story; the Passport

First I found suit fabric at Jo Ann’s for $3.50 per yard, so I bought 4 yards! When I got home I knew exactly what pattern to make first, the Lisette Passport. In order to keep all of the sizes, I traced it with freezer paper. There is only 6 pieces to sew together and 4 are the bodice. I checked the pattern envelop and cut out the dress but as soon as I finished the bodice I knew it was too small. I started over and cut out a larger size but when I finished it was too large.  At this point I wished I made a muslin! So third time was a charm and I made a third bodice and completed the dress. Lesson learned, next time I am going to make a muslin. Here are a few great sites about making a muslin... Making a Muslin « Sew,Mama,Sew! Tablet Talk

After many customers asking about masonite and wondering where on Earth to find it? I have decided to carry it in my Etsy shop! Masonite is the hardboard I use in all of my iPad Case covers. The masonite in my shop is cut specifically for the iPad Case epattern for the iPad first generation or 2. New 10" tablets are becoming more and more popular, so I have started making custom cases for Motorola Xooms, Samsung Galaxy and the HP tablets. The Sew Spoiled Folding Case Giveaway is still being hostessed by  Rocky Mountain Mama   through July 15, 2011 ! I am sponsoring the giveaway and it is a $58 value!!  Last but not least, it is rumored that the iPad 3 might come out with the iPhone 5 in October!! Here are two articles on the topic... iPad 3 Release iPad Coming This Year Do you think Mac would release 2 iPads in one year? What are your thoughts on this topic? Does anyone have another 10" tablet? What are your favorite features of your tablet?? Just thought we could
