Sew Spoiled Works With Simplicity

I was at Walmart today to grocery shop for a weeks worth of groceries. When I stopped in the fabric section to pick up interfacing but before I got to the interfacing, I saw the Simplicity Summer Catalog! I had to check it, and sure enough my Sew Spoiled Ladybug Bags were on the first page on the accessories section!! I was so surprised and excited that I almost forgot to buy groceries!
The pattern number is 1824 with Simplicity.
Simplicity told me it would be out March 23, 2012 but I am so glad I found it today. It’s possible that it wasn’t supposed to be out yet because the cashier had trouble ringing it up.
If you spot one definitely pick it up!! The Simplicity pattern 1824 has all 5 bag patterns inside one envelop!

Ok, I still can’t believe it. I have to go and jump around some more. It has been over a year in the making.
Here are some of my earlier posts on it.
Happy Sewing!

Hello! Not sure if you even see notifications for comments on this at this point, but I’m hoping that if you do, maybe you can give me some advice. I bought this pattern when it first came out. I’m making the shoulder bag now and wondering what interfacing you recommend? I’ve got light (I believe it’s Pelon featherweight) and heavy (Pelion 809 decor bond) on hand, but no fusible fleece ( I can get this easily enough.). Do you know what most people use ? What have you found to yield the nicest result? I’m so excited to finally be working on this six long years after I purchased your pattern from Walmart! Also, I know a lot of people say it’s personal preference, but I’m really curious what you prefer because, after all, you’re the Lady Bug Bag pro!! Thanks. Beth in Maine

Hey, Beth in Maine!
I use the Pellon 809 but I have since learned that is it better to first fuse Pellon Shap Flex 101 and then apply the 809 interfacing. I love shape flex and I use it first on all of my fabric bags. I hope this helps. I know your project will turn out great!
Thank you for your comment!

Thank you so much for responding so quickly! . Is the shape flex light/feather weight or more of a medium weight? I googled it and it says woven and multi purpose but no weight. I threw the Pelon paper out on my light stuff but I’m pretty sure it’s considered feather weight. Thanks again !!

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later....
