Peek A Boo Letters- for the Make It Perfect Tutorial:

I instantly fell in love with the Peek A Boo Toy Sacks, from Make it Perfect. I have two beautiful but messy children. Toys are everywhere! We recently started to organize their room (again) and this tutorial couldn't of come at a better time.
Make it Perfect's tutorial is wonderful! I am just adding another fun way to use it.
Remember, if you need to see the picture larger just click on it!
Supplies:
I made a larger bag, so my measurements are a little bigger. The main panel and lining panel are twice as wide because I folded them in half to make a bag measuring approximately 14"h X 12"w.
(I can make one in the amount of time it takes a 3 year to take her afternoon nap.)
Main Panel= 15"h X 25"w
Lining Panel= 15"h X 25"w
Tie= 1.5"h X 44"w
Casing= 2"h X 13.5w
Letter Fabric= Main Fabric 5"X 6"
Lining Fabric 5"X 6"
Clear Vinyl 5"X 6"

Step 1- Print off the size letter you want on your bag. I used the font Arial at 300, approximately 4"x5".

Step 2- Trace the letter on the wrong side of the 5"x6" fabrics. On the main fabric trace the letter the correct way, on the lining fabric trace the letter facing the opposite way.
Step 3- Place the main fabric measuring 5x6 right side together with the main panel of the bag. You will want to center the letter and place it low on the bag, the letter should be approximately 2-3" from the bottom of the bag.
Step 4- Sew around the letter.
Step 5- Cut with pinking shears in the center of the letter. Slit the corners of the letter, being careful not to trim stitches.
Step 6- Flip the fabric inward toward the wrong side and iron flat.
Step 7- Place the main panel flat wrong side up, layer the lining fabric right side up on top of the main panel and last but not least the 5"x6" letter traced lining fabric. Match the letters up and pin the lining fabric to the letter traced lining piece. Do Not pin the main panel, it is just there so you can line up the two panels.
Step 8- Sew around the letter on the lining fabric.

Step 9- Cut inside the letter with pinking shears and flip the fabric inward toward the wrong side and iron flat. (Just like step 6.)

Step 10- Layer main panel, vinyl measuring 5"X 6", and lining fabric. Pin the fabrics together.
Sew around the letter! This works well for C, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z!
The other letters, such as A, B, D, O, P, Q and R, need help in the negative space. Let's take "O" if you cut out the "O" shape you will have a whole and not a letter.  My solution is to use a button, fabric flower or yo yo to fill the negative space in the center!
Finally, I folded this bag in half and sergered the right and bottom sides. Turned down the top .5" twice and topstitched and added the casing and tie.
I hope you have enjoyed this short tutorial! Thank you again Make it Perfect for the
Enjoy!

Sweet Coin Purse Tutorial for Teacher Gifts

This time of year is so special to me because I get to show my gratitude for all of the hard work that goes into teaching my daughters. I love to make handmade gifts and this year is no exception. Since money does not grow on trees around here, I looked at my stash (I keep my scraps in hat boxes ) and tried to see what I had a lot of; small zippers, trims, Peltex strips ( from making iPad cases ), fabric scraps and some hardware for key fobs. So I set to work.  Materials: Plastic multipurpose 5" Zipper  Fabric Scraps Lightweight interfacing 808 Pellon Trims (We clipped  key fobs  with 1.5" swivel hooks onto our coin purses . There are tons of tutorials on making key fobs .) Step 1: Print out the Coin Purse Template  PDF.  Cut 2 main fabric, cut 2 lining and 2 interfacing using the template.  Optional: Cut a 2"X2" square of your choice main fabric or lining. This strip of fabric is used to clip a key fob to your coin purse later. We used a 1.5
